STAMFORD, CT - September 3, 2009 - Harman International Industries, Incorporated (NYSE: HAR) said today that it will introduce a new strategic exhibit concept at the IFA Consumer Electronics Trade Fair which opens on September 4 in Berlin, Germany. Last year’s IFA event drew more than 200,000 visitors and some 6,000 journalists from around the world.
Harman International has had a strong presence at the IFA show for many years, previously hosting one of the event’s largest public displays. This year, the Company’s focused presentation will be open only to distributors, retailers and other channel partners, many of whom come to the fair with the intent of placing on-site orders. Harman has reserved the first observation level and surrounding areas of the IFA Radio Tower (Funkturm), a 125 meter tall Berlin icon that is visible throughout the region. Harman’s exclusive presentation will include a series of tents at the base of the tower to host product demonstrations, a sales and business center, and hospitality area. High above the fair, the Harman Sky Lounge will provide invited guests with a quiet place to finalize their business discussions.
“Although our IFA displays have long been a hit with the general public, our retail and distribution partners are the ones who really satisfy the market craving for quick access to the latest technologies,” said Dinesh C. Paliwal, Harman’s Chairman, President and CEO. “Our new focused exhibit concept will dramatically improve close interaction with this target audience while differentiating our company among the channel partners who drive the sale of Harman products.
