Harman and Slate.com Host Interactive Digital Town Hall

HARMAN and the popular online magazine Slate.com are teaming up to conduct a digital town meeting exploring The Connected Lifestyle, webcast live from the country music capital of Nashville, Tennessee.  We cordially invite HARMAN and Slate fans, both current and future, to join the conversation as a distinguished panel of journalists, technology pioneers and industry executives examines how rapidly-evolving technologies are impacting our increasingly connected lifestyles.

The live presentation will be conducted before an invited audience at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, where the panelists will lead a broad-based live and online discussion of how consumers want to interact with the Web, including their technology “wish list” for connecting conveniently and safely at home, on the go, and on the road. During the presentation, HARMAN will preview the results of a first-ever “Connected Lifestyle” survey that takes an up-close look at the current state of personal electronics technologies and the types of products consumers expect in the near future.  HARMAN’s credentials in these areas are significant, as a leading global provider of lifestyle audio, professional audio and mobile infotainment technologies.

Walter Isaacson (right), author of Amazon.com’s No. 1 selling book, Steve Jobs, will kick off the town hall event.  Isaacson, currently President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, is well versed in a variety of technology, educational and policy subject areas.

His former roles include Chairman and Chief Executive of CNN and Managing Editor of TIME Magazine, where he led the publication’s new media initiatives and had frequent opportunities to take the pulse of emerging consumer trends.  Isaacson has authored or co-authored six books and numerous published articles, and has served in a variety of business, education and government advisory positions.

“Reaching out to customers, technology partners, and the others who shape the dynamic markets in which we operate is an important element of developing the next leading-edge innovations that will characterize the connected lifestyle,” said Dinesh C. Paliwal, HARMAN Chairman, President and CEO.  “We are grateful to Slate, our distinguished panelists, and the many online participants from around the Web who will make this digital town hall meeting a win for all concerned.”

The digital town meeting will be streamed live on www.slate.com beginning at 5:00 PM (US Eastern) on Wednesday October 26th, and will be archived on the site for replay after the event concludes.
