World Class Audio at FIFA World Cup
The best remembered sound of the 2010 World Cup may be the vuvuzelas, but the sound experience is all thanks to Harman -- including the brand new Moses Mabhida Stadium, where AKG, BSS Audio, Crown, JBL and Soundcraft components form the backbone of the sound reinforcement system.
The Moses Mabhida Stadium (pictured right) system installation features over 130 Crown amplifiers, with signal processing provided by BSS Audio and mixing by Soundcraft RM100 series consoles. JBL loudspeakers are found throughout the venue, along with over 1400 Control 24 CT Micro and 100 Control 25AV ceiling speakers, and microphones from Harman's GRAMMY Award-winning AKG brand.
Situated in Durban, the new stadium has a capacity of 70,000 and hosted seven World Cup games. The stadium’s unique design is highlighted by an arch, which represents the once divided nation of South Africa coming together.
Harman professional equipment outfits some of the world largest and most iconic sports stadiums, and our reputation in this field is second-to-none. Thanks to a platform of superior performance, unique technical integration of products and proven experience across hundreds of venues, Harman is the leading equipment provider to world class stadiums.
Harman Professional audio systems can be found in Yankee Stadium in New York City, the O2 Arenas in Berlin and London, Wembley Stadium, Lucas Oil Stadium, FedEx Arena, Stade de Suisse, Carl Benz Arena and no fewer than 12 venues from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, such as the Nanjing (Bird's Nest) Stadium pictured above.
