Join HARMAN as we help roll out the Red Carpet with Hollywood’s elite at the 55th annual GRAMMY Awards® on Sunday February 10, 2013 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Participants in this star-studded event will include LL Cool J as Host, and such leading names as Taylor Swift, Rhianna, Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, Fun and others performing throughout the evening.
Awaiting their award announcements in the wings will be leading performing talents from 81 categories spanning every music genre. HARMAN is proud to share the spotlight once again as Official Sound Sponsor, continuing a multi-year partnership that celebrates our own contribution to the world of music.
“Few events better symbolize our company’s commitment to great sound than the annual GRAMMY Awards,” says Dinesh C. Paliwal, HARMAN Chairman, President and CEO – who himself accepted a GRAMMY Technical Award for the company's AKG brand in 2010. “Music is an integral part of our shared passion, and we are honored by The Recording Academy’s invitation to again serve as an official sponsor.”
HARMAN has been a key sponsor of the GRAMMY events since 2008, providing audio systems for the various awards events and routinely touring with the legendary artists who are honored. The company’s microphones, headphones, mixing consoles, amplifiers, loudspeakers and systems integration expertise share the stage with these great talents, and are installed at world-class performance venues around the world. The company was honored in 2009 by Recording Academy with a special proclamation recognizing HARMAN’s decades of contribution to audio technologies.
Along with a prominent presence during the Awards ceremony and telecast, HARMAN will participate in and sponsor a number of related events during “Music’s Biggest Weekend” – kicking off with the KROQ PRE-GRAMMY PARTY on Friday February 8th at the nearby GRAMMY Museum. We will also join fellow sponsor AEG at pre-and post telecast parties on Sunday, where exclusive gift bags and drink menus will help salute our own JBL brand. Professional audio products from HARMAN brands AKG and JBL will be used during the event.
HARMAN is also proud to again serve as title sponsor for the annual Recording Academy/Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala on Saturday February 9th. This exclusive, star-studded celebration will feature special musical performances and is attended by artists and industry VIPs in music, film and television. Red Carpet guests will pose for photos at a HARMAN-branded backdrop, and the event space will include a display of HARMAN Lifestyle products as well as a Hyundai automobile equipped with our premium Lexicon branded audio.
HARMAN is also a key sponsor of the Musicares Foundation, established in 1989 by The Recording Academy to provide human services support to the music community. Musicares will present its Person of the Year Award this year to rock legend and multiple GRAMMY winner Bruce Springsteen. A premium Harman/Kardon home cinema system will be auctioned during the event, with proceeds donated to the Musicares Foundation.
To help support the GRAMMY Awards both before and after the event weekend, HARMAN advertisements will appear in both online and print media. HARMAN brand ambassadors including Sir Paul McCartney, Quincy Jones, Jennifer Lopez and AR Rahman will join us in saluting music’s great artists, and HARMAN products will be featured in such media as People Magazine, The Price is Right Television Show, and the Carson Daly Radio Show. JBL and CBS Radio are partnering to bring music fans closer to their favorite artists through a series of intimate interviews and exclusive events. Maroon 5 and Alicia Keys are among the artists who will share their memories of the GRAMMY Awards and what it means to be recognized on music’s biggest night during The JBL GRAMMY Spotlight with Carson Daly.
Beyond its deep roots in the recording and music industries, HARMAN is no stranger to the GRAMMY Awards winners circle. The Company’s JBL and AKG brands have each earned Technical GRAMMY Awards for their respective conributions to the science of sound.
