Connectivity means the connection of the infotainment system in the vehicle to the outside world or to another device. Such devices can be telephones, MP3 players, media players or a permanent Internet connection. The connection can take place as a “monolog” (i.e. unilaterally from the device to the vehicle) or as a “dialog” (in both directions). The device can be either simply connected or fully integrated.
For example, HARMAN Automotive Division was one of the first companies to integrate fully functional MP3 players in cars using the fixed infotainment system.
